Supported and improved an online authoring system thats purpose is to take data from a large Oracle data source and format reports to the specification of professional oil and gas consultants. The system was primarily built with custom OO Perl libraries within a Mediasurface CMS, but included extensive Access/Excel front ends and oracle PL/SQL stored procedures.
Maintained a number of Government sites, including the Food Standards Agency (FSA), and DfES Standards site. Regarding the FSA, I converted their delivered HTML to standards compliant CSS positioned XHTML. This cut the page file size by 75%, allowing their servers to deliver more content in times of high traffic.
Constructed the front-end to Nomura’s equity derivatives platform. This system published data using Mediasurface/Perl to flat files, which were delivered using Java (Spring Framework).
Built an online manual for Suzuki, to detail to franchisees how to present their premises to the customer. The system was constructed using Tridion, a leading CMS product. The published front-end was delivered in ASP to W3C standards.
Acted as a Tridion consultant, and trained staff at the Royal Society of Chemistry. This allowed them to migrate years of HTML into a much more maintainable CMS.
Developed a quarterly report production system for worldwide and US-specific pharmaceutical sales information and analysis. A large amount of information was consumed to produce reports in Word, Excel and HTML. A core Java based controller system was built to pass data transformation requests to individual format generators. These helper applications were built in Perl and Visual Basic depending on the transformations required. A user interface was provided to control the production system that was JSP delivered and presented with XHTML and CSS. The result was a fast, maintainable and reliable system.
